比較は、英語で判断を説明するための土台。

実務では「良い / 悪い」だけでなく、「より安全」「少し遅いが保守しやすい」「AよりBのほうがリスクが低い」のように、トレードオフを言う必要がある。

the most / least	一番	This is the most reliable option.
the more…, the more…	比例	The more we add, the harder it gets.

ニュアンス比較

better / more better

NG: This is more better.
OK: This is better.
OK: This is much better.

better 自体が比較級なので more は付けない。強めたいなら much better, a lot better, slightly better。

more reliable / safer / less risky

This option is more reliable.
This option is safer.
This option is less risky.

more reliable は信頼性。safer は安全性。less risky はリスクが低い。設計議論では less risky が柔らかく使いやすい。

as soon as possible / by Friday

Please fix this as soon as possible.
Could you fix this by Friday?

as soon as possible は急ぎだが、期限が曖昧。仕事では具体的な期限を添えるほうが親切。

日本語トラップ

「よりベター」

NG: more better
OK: better
OK: a better option

日本語の「よりベター」に引っ張られない。

`than` の後ろを省略しすぎる

Unclear: This is better than before.
Clear: This is easier to test than the previous version.

何がどう良いのかを具体化すると、レビューや設計議論で伝わりやすい。

最上級に `the` を忘れる

NG: This is most reliable option.
OK: This is the most reliable option.

最上級は「その中で一番」なので the が付きやすい。

実務例文

Meeting

This option is less risky for the first release.
The new flow is easier to explain to users.
The more fields we add, the harder onboarding becomes.

PR review

This helper makes the test easier to read.
Could we use a more specific name here?
This version is slightly more verbose, but it is easier to maintain.

Incident

Rolling back is safer than patching production manually.
The second alert was less severe than the first one.
We need the fastest safe path to recovery.
